Sausage Tree Camp
Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia
A beautiful and intimate safari camp sitting on the banks of the Lower Zambezi, offering excellent food and the best of game viewing in luxurious surroundings. Sausage Tree Camp has just six Bedouin-style tents sleeping up to 12 people.
Situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park, Sausage Tree Camp specialises in affording guests the very best game viewing in authentic safari style – without sacrificing an inch of luxury. Sitting in the shade of mature sausage and mahogany trees, each of the six sumptuous Bedouin-style canvas tents is attended by a personal Muchinda (butler), has a private open-air bathroom and a beautiful teak four-poster bed complete with flowing white mosquito nets.
Meals can be taken under the African sky or in the huge open dining tent on the banks of the Zambezi. As the camp is totally unfenced, you may even be joined by a hippo or other four-legged visitor. From his bush kitchen, the camp’s French-trained chef produces superb cuisine, which has earned him a reputation as one of Zambia’s finest. As well as game drives and guided walking safaris, guests can also venture onto the mighty Zambezi for canoeing, boating and fishing for the renowned tigerfish.
The new Kigelia House consists of two bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms, a large plunge pool, fully stocked bar and dining table for private meals. The huge open plan living area is furnished with leather loungers, day bed and sundeck chairs. A beautiful teak deck sweeping across the entire front of the suite offers amazing panoramic views. Kigelia House is ideally suited to small groups (two couples) and/or families. Both bedrooms are large enough to accommodate a third bed on request.
