Quintessential Quirimbas - Mozambique

The islands of Mozambique’s Quirimbas Archipelago are set in waters of an indescribable turquoise hue. Go island hopping and discover humpback whales, dolphins, beautiful beaches, exhilirating fishing and world-class scuba diving.

Having flown overnight from London to Dar es Salaam you then board a shared charter flight to Ibo Island, stopping to complete Mozambique visa formailities en-route.

Ibo Island is the former Portuguese colonial base and the cultural centre of the archipelago. Ibo Island Lodge is a haven of tranquillity with lovely private gardens, two freshwater pools and a roof terrace overlooking the sea, perfect for sundowners. Rooms are decorated in a mixture of Arabic and African styles with antique furniture and gorgeous four-poster beds. As well as taking a guide for a walking tour of the island’s historic buildings, guests can enjoy a mangrove kayaking safari and trips to the nearby sandbar for ‘bush’ breakfasts and spectacular snorkelling. Fresh seafood abounds.

You then take a very short flight and boat transfer to Londo Lodge. The eight stylish suites are perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the bay and the lodge’s private beach. Dutch-owned and run Londo is renowned for excellent cuisine and is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun, sea and sand.

Finally, fly to Vamizi, one of the northernmost islands of the Quirimbas, for 7 nights of barefoot island luxury. Vamizi’s 12 spacious wood and thatch suites are stylishly yet simply designed with marble showers and large outdoor deck areas. Set apart from each other along the soft sandy beach, they offer total privacy when you are not taking advantage of the superb diving, fishing and snorkelling opportunties on your doorstep.
