Flooded with natural light, the two-storey Library at the bow of the ship offers the opportunity to view the polar scenery from two different levels. This design feature extends to the outdoor decks, where multi-height viewing areas provide the scope for long distance landscape and wildlife viewing and photography. Guests can also keep fit in the well-equipped gym, sweat it out in the sauna, and take in the icy terrain from the warmth of two outdoor hot tubs.
The main excitement of any polar expedition is the chance to explore the landscape and meet the wildlife, and the Ocean Explorer carries 15 Zodiacs for off-ship immersive exploration and there are four separate sea-level embarkation points for getting on and off the water as quickly as possible, ensuring guests can always be in the right place at the right time for wildlife viewing and points of interest. To get the most from the excursions, briefings and informative talks from the expedition team are held in the Explorer Lounge.
At the leading edge of sustainability, the ship boasts a striking X-Bow design to ensure smooth, comfortable, and energy-efficient sailing. The fuel-efficient Rolls Royce engines and state-of-the-art MAGS gasification system (which converts all waste into energy), further enhances the vessel’s eco credentials.
