Inverness is located at the top of Scotland’s magnificent Great Glen, ideal for searching out monsters on Loch Ness, reindeers in the Cairngorms, bottlenose dolphins on the Moray Firth and vintage whiskies in the Spey Valley. The town itself is set along the scenic River Ness, its waters rich with salmon and sea trout.
While much of Inverness’ attraction lies in its proximity to breathtaking countryside, the city also boasts a wealth of museums and galleries. Though the city dates back to the 12th century, many of its buildings date from later periods, including the 18th century Old High Church and the 19th century Cathedral.
