Tropical climate and the driest months to visit are December to March. November and April are also good months to visit and you may get some rain, although it is outside of the monsoon season. May to October is the monsoon with downpours occurring once or twice a day, rather than constant rain.

Itinerary

Day 1-4

On Land: Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

You will arrive at the airport, where you will be met by your private luxury transfer and driven to your retreat in Ubud. You will spend the next three nights at Mandapa, A Ritz Carlton Reserve. Spend some time settling into your Reserve Suite, with stunning views towards the rice paddies, and enjoy a sumptuous three-course dinner at Sawah Terrace restaurant. During your stay we’ve included a picturesque tour of Central Bali, taking in some of the island’s most enchanting temples, peaceful lakes, a bustling food market and of course the iconic rice terraces. The following morning you will rise early to hike up to the summit of Mount Batur to watch the sunrise. Enjoy breakfast on top of the mountain while soaking up the incredible views, before heading back down where the soothing waters of the Toya Bungkah hot springs are waiting to rejuvenate your tired legs. Back at the hotel, indulge in a relaxing treatment at the spa, partake in a spot of yoga or read a book in the library. We’ve also included afternoon tea for you at Ambar Ubud Bar, perched high on the clifftop with spectacular vistas.

Day 4-19

At Sea: Worldwide

Today you will be transferred to Benoa to board your Ponant Cruise, which will take you from Bali to Phuket over the next 15 nights. Settle into your suite on board this intimately sized yacht (with up to 184 guests) and soak up the spectacular views as you set sail through southeast Asia. With two restaurants, an enchanting spa and a truly unique underwater lounge, your time on board will be utterly relaxing and quietly luxurious. A range of guided excursions will bring your trip to life – from the cultural hotspots of some of Asia’s most fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Sites to guided hikes through nature’s playground and speedboat rides to remote beaches far from the tourist crowds.

Take your time to become acquainted with the ship's layout and enjoy a mouthwatering evening meal while you set sail to your first stop on the itinerary, Java.

Day 5: At sea

As the ship makes its way to Java, you can enjoy all the facilities on board including a dip in the pool or a spot of sunbathing on the deck.

Day 6: Probolingo, Java

Today you will discover the spectacular lunar landscape of Mount Bromo. An exciting journey by 4x4, pony ride and a short hike brings you to the awesome volcanic crater with its puff of white smoke.

Day 7: Surabaya, Java

You will arrive in Surabaya and will have the day to explore this fascinating city with its deep colonial heritage. Stroll the maze of narrow streets and delve deep into the Trowulan archaeological site.

Days 8 – 9: Semarang, Java

You will spend the next two days exploring Semarang, a cosmopolitan port town with a melting pot of cultures. A highlight will be heading slightly inland to discover the ancient kingdom of Borobudur, one of the world’s largest Buddhist temple complexes and an enchanting UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 10: At sea

As the ship makes its way to Sumatra, you can spend time out on the deck soaking up the ocean views, or attend one of the conferences or shows on board for added entertainment.

Day 11: Parai Beach, Sumatra

Spend the day soaking up the immense natural beauty of Parai Beach in Sumatra’s Bangka Belitung archipelago. Sit beneath the palm trees and allow the slow pace of life to drift over you.

Days 12 – 13:  Singapore

Your next stop is the exciting Garden City of Singapore, where your ship will spend one night. Soak up the vibrant hustle and bustle of Marina Bay, the colourful markets of Chinatown and Little India and the insightful history of Raffles dock. Be sure to tuck into some of Singapore’s tantalizing cuisine during your stay!

Day 14: Malacca

Having sailed overnight into Malaysia, your next stop is the city of Malacca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site inextricably linked to the trade of spices and silk. Delve beneath the surface of this cultural oasis on a guided tour.

Day 15: Penang (George Town)

Discover the island of Penang today, another important trading post for the British in the Far East. The capital George Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped in history, with the Blue Mansion being a real highlight.

Day 16: Langkawi Island

Enjoy a guided tour of Langkawi – a natural paradise of vast white sand beaches, jungle-covered hills, picturesque rice paddies, ancient rock formations and spectacular mountain peaks.

Day 17: Ko Rok Nok Island

The ship has made its way to Thailand overnight, where your first stop is the uninhabited island of Ko Rok Nok. In the heart of a protected national park, you’ll be able to swim and snorkel with myriad marine life, or trek amid the lush vegetation inland.

Day 18: Phang Nga

Delve deep into the Phang Nga province in southern Thailand, with a day exploring by speedboat. Discover lush old-growth forest, stunning waterfalls and sublime fine-sand beaches. Channel your inner movie star at James Bond Island and admire the quaint water village of Panyi Island, where more than 200 houses are built on stilts.

Day 19: Phuket

The final stop on your journey is Phuket, Thailand’s largest island. Disembark the ship and discover the jungle-cloaked hills, white sandy beaches and animated underwater world. Savour the tantalising aromas of the many street food stalls and browse colourful fruit and vegetable markets.
