Beyond the villas, there is a 19-metre infinity salt water pool, spectacular outdoor poolside lounge and spa room, a restaurant that specialises in organic and locally sourced produce, and plenty of activities and wildlife excursions on offer, including jungle hiking, boating trips, white-water rafting, zip lining, waterfall rappelling and surfing lessons, as well as trips into the biodiversity hotspot of the Osa Peninsula. This Southern Pacific region has the largest area of protected land in Costa Rica, with Corcovado National Park, Caño Island Biological Reserve, the Terraba-Sierpe Mangroves, Manuel Antonio National Park and the Ballena National Marine Park all within easy reach through Kura's hiking and boating trips.

Designed by Costa Rican owner and architect Martin Wells, Kura has admirable eco credentials. The pool is salt-water and chemical-free, energy comes from solar panels, and rainwater is recycled.

Location

Costa Ballena, Manuel Antonio & Uvita, Costa Rica

Kura overlooks the Southern Pacific coastline of Costa Rica. Kura is not on the beach but perched remotely on the coastal ridge sloping five kilometres above the shoreline, just a 15 minute drive away from the main road. This position provides cool breezes, panoramic views of the ocean and jungle view to the east, making this a great isolated place to go for an unforgettable, non traditional honeymoon. Daily scheduled shuttles up or down the ridge are included.

A 1-hour drive from Quepos, a 3-hour 30-minute drive from San Jose or a short domestic flight with Sansa or Nature Air.
