The Dana Nature Reserve is one of Jordan's hidden gems, and a great place to get more off the beaten track versus the more popular sites such as Petra and Wadi Rum. As the area is protected, the accommodation choices are limited, but whilst Dana Guesthouse is basic, the hotel offers incredible views, and warm Arabic hospitality.
There are 24 rooms, which are simply furnished. The entry level rooms have a shared bathroom, but there are 15 Deluxe Rooms which have their own bathrooms. Each room has a wonderful terrace overlooking a 1,000-metre drop to the basin of the Wadi Dana. The sunsets across the far side of the Wadi make this an exceptionally beautiful place to be in the evenings. Dining is fairly simple, but hearty, and the public areas of the property have a welcoming, intimate atmosphere.
Dana Guesthouse is eco-friendly, and the money from the hotel goes towards the local community, and most of the staff are from the surrounding area.
