  • Small traditional style tented camp

  • See the spectacular wildebeest migration which is usually in the Maasai Mara between July to October

  • Gather round the camp fire each evening before dinner and chat about the days game viewing

Offbeat Mara Camp is an intimate and informal, bush camp situated in a remote part of the Mara North Conservancy offering exceptional game viewing and personalised service. Large walk-in canvas tents with huge cedar beds, solar lighting and fine linen provide comfortable accommodation. Each tent has an en-suite bucket shower, washbasin and flush loo, there is also a family tent suitable for a family of four or five.

The Masai Mara plays host to the annual migration from July to October. An enormous concentration of wildebeest, zebra and consequently predators pass through the surrounding plains. Unrestricted by National Park rules, guests at Offbeat Mara can enjoy full day game drives as well as evening drives (pre-dinner) in custom-built Land Cruisers; bush breakfasts, picnics and the famous Kenyan sundowner.

Activities include game drives, either by day or in the early evening to catch a glimpse of those elusive nocturnal species. Walking safari is also available and visits to a Maasai village can be arranged on request. Hot air balloon safaris and horse rides can all be enjoyed from Offbeat Mara Camp at an additional cost.

Location

Maasai Mara, Kenya

The camp's location is on the Olare Orok, a meandering tributary of the Mara River. The Olare Orok cuts through the centre of the Mara North Conservancy. Offbeat Mara Camp nestles into a valley in the middle of this wilderness and has close access to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve.

It is an 8-hour 30-minute international flight to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Airport, then it is a 30-minute trip by road to Wilson Domestic Airport. Scheduled flights from Nairobi’s Wilson airport to Laikipia airstrip take about 1-hour. Guests are met on arrival and it's then a 40-minute drive to camp.
