Once a sheep farm in the heart of the scenic Troll Peninsula, today Deplar Farm is a remote getaway with added luxury, and the perfect place for an Icelandic adventure. Surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers, the wilderness of northern Iceland is right on the doorstep and waiting to be explored.
Deplar Farm is home to 13 rooms, all of which boast a contemporary Nordic style and impeccable design. Natural colours are used throughout to ensure rooms feel bright and airy, and the distinct character of the farm can be felt in each room. While the décor is fairly minimalist the rooms are still warm and welcoming thanks to plush fabrics and a bed you'll sink into. Thanks to Deplar Farm's secluded location each room offers fantastic views, whether of the dramatic mountains or the peaceful lake.
In Deplar Farm's dining room the meals are designed to recharge you after your exhilarating adventures while bringing the surrounding nature to your plate. Fresh produce is provided by local farmers and ingredients are locally-sourced, resulting in a contemporary Icelandic cuisine that celebrates the natural resources of the country. If you're too busy exploring over lunch time, fear not - you'll be provided with a gourmet picnic to help fuel your adventure.
While it may be tempting to spend your whole time enjoying Deplar Farm's extensive facilities, a stay here is all about exploring the rugged landscape of Iceland and discovering unique adventures. Whether you're a fly fishing aficionado or you'd like to try your hand at cross-country skiing, there's something for everyone at Deplar, no matter what time of year. Winter guests can explore on snowmobile, try snowshoeing or tubing, and during the summer guests can try sea kayaking, mountain biking or hiking.
Your time at Deplar Farm can be as adrenaline-fuelled or as laid-back as you'd like, and your personal experience manager can arrange and alter your itinerary to your liking. Spend your down-time relaxing in the spa, soothe your muscles in the Jacuzzi and unwind in the steam bath. And for the ultimate Icelandic experience, float in the geothermally-heated outdoor pool under the midnight sun or watch the Northern Lights dance across the sky.
When to visit
The toasty pool is heated year-round and is the perfect place to relax after a day of activities - if you find yourself thirsty just swim up to the bar for a drink and appetizers.
