Average time to visit

Belize & the Riviera Maya have a tropical climate, with the best time to travel from December to May. There are two seasons in Belize - winter (mild and relatively dry) and summer (warm and occasionally hot and humid. The official monsoon rainy season is June to November). Summers in San Pedro and the other cayes along the Barrier Reef are much milder than on the Belizean mainland, due to the proximity to the sea and the cooling effects of the easterly trade winds and cloud cover which hold temperatures in the high 20s / low 30s.

Fly to Miami

Day 1-2

Miami, Florida

Begin your honeymoon with one night in Miami to break up the journey to Belize, making the most of a night in the ultra-hip 1 Hotel South Beach and its iconic location just a short stroll from Miami’s Ocean Drive.

Day 2-5

Mountain Pine Ridge, Belize

You will then fly to Belize City and transfer into the beautiful Mountain Pine Ridge district, one of Belize’s largest protected areas. Characterised by waterfalls, rivers and forests, Mayan ruins and incredible cave systems, Mountain Pine Ridge is a wonderful adventure playground with superb hiking and biking along the trails, horseback riding through the jungle to visit many of the area’s Mayan plazas and caves, canoeing, zip-lining, cave tubing and boating along the local river. You can also swim in the clear waters of the river just a stone's throw away from your cabana or relax in the sun on a tiny river-island retreat. The romantic hideaway retreat of Gaia River Lodge is just the place to enjoy the abundant nature all around.

Day 5-9

San Pedro, Belize

From here, fly to the offshore coral island of Ambergris Caye for a dose of barefoot luxury, as you stay at Matachica, an intimate hideaway so secluded that it can only be reached by boat from the town of San Pedro. Indulge in a rejuvenating massage and spa treatments at Matachica’s Jade Spa, swim with nurse sharks, turtles, and stingrays, or enjoy a variety of day excursions including incredible snorkelling and scuba diving, whether on the local reef or out at the famous Blue Hole.

Day 9-13

Tulum, Mexico

End your honeymoon in hip Tulum at the stylish beachfront design hotel Be Tulum, where relaxation is the name of the game, and the spacious and stylish rooms are the perfect place to kick back. If you can summon up the energy, there’s plenty to do, from exploring the cliff-top Mayan ruins, to beachcombing or canoeing in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve as you look for manatees. Stay for four nights, with time entirely at your leisure to relax or discover the delights of the Mexican Caribbean.
