From her favourite cultural experiences and hidden gems to her recommendations for luxury accommodations and must-see destinations, read on for her insights.

Q: When is it best to go?

A: Typically, you want to visit India between October to March. If you want to visit during certain festivals, it is also important to be mindful of dates, such as Diwali in October or November and Holi in February or March.

Q: How long would you recommend for a trip to India?

A: For a first-time trip to India, we recommend two to three weeks. This timeframe allows you to explore each destination at a relaxed pace, giving you time to fully experience and enjoy each location without feeling rushed.

Q: What type of traveller is best suited for a trip to India?

A: India is a fantastic destination for both families and couples, and we tailor each journey to match your travel style and interests. Whether you’re seeking an adventure with young kids or a romantic, high-luxury escape, we create customized itineraries to make your trip unforgettable. With experiences spanning history, culture, architecture, and wellness, India offers something special for every traveller.

Q: What’s an ideal itinerary for a first-time trip to India?

A: For first-time visitors, the Rajasthan route is perfect, offering a vibrant blend of history, culture, and luxury. Start with Delhi and Agra for iconic sights like the Taj Mahal, then head to Rajasthan to explore Udaipur, Jaipur, and Jodhpur. A stop at Ranthambore for a safari adds adventure, while luxury stays at places like the Taj Lake Palace or Oberoi properties immerse you in India’s regal heritage. This itinerary showcases the essence of India, from palaces to wildlife, with each stop offering unforgettable experiences.

Q: What unique cultural experiences can travellers have in India?

A: One of the most enriching aspects of India is the opportunity to immerse yourself in local markets, where you can admire exquisite crafts, ornate clothing, and intricate designs, all while learning about the artisans behind them. This hands-on experience provides a deep appreciation for Indian culture and a chance to connect with locals who have dedicated their lives to perfecting their craft. Some of my favourite moments during my last trip included a candlelit dinner at a step well, accompanied by Rajasthani musicians, and an unforgettable private meal at a fort with a spectacular fireworks show. Additionally, the wildlife and countryside experiences offer a unique perspective of India; exploring rural areas reveals authentic glimpses of daily life, and you might even spot majestic animals like tigers or leopards in their natural habitat.

Q: What are some of your favourite hidden gems in India?

A: One of my favourite hidden gems in India is Brij Lakshman Sagar, especially if you’re exploring Rajasthan. Set in the countryside, this intimate property offers private villas with pools overlooking scenic landscapes. You can enjoy nature walks, breathtaking sundowners, and meaningful interactions with nearby communities and villages—a truly unique and enriching experience. It’s a spot I highly recommend adding to your itinerary for a more personal connection to India’s beauty and culture.

Q: What would you recommend when looking to combine a trip to India with another destination?

A: When pairing India with another destination, the Maldives immediately comes to mind. It’s the perfect place to unwind after an exhilarating, adventure-filled journey through India. My expert tip? Begin with India’s vibrant energy, then retreat to the Maldives for some well-deserved rest and relaxation – the ultimate combination! And keep an eye out—we are continuously updating our portfolio with exciting offerings for this pairing.

Q: What should I consider when packing for a trip to India?

A: When packing for India, it's important to consider modesty. Make sure to include clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, especially when visiting Northern India or Rajasthan. Different occasions call for different attire, so be prepared to dress appropriately for exploring cities, embarking on a safari or visiting temples and religious sites. When traveling to India from the U.S. or the U.K., you will need a visa, but the process is straightforward and can be completed easily online.
