Mababe Private Reserve, Okavango Delta and Moremi, Botswana
Khwai

A mobile safari is one of the best ways to get up close to the wildlife and landscapes of the Okavango Delta and an authentic safari experience. The Mababe Private Reserve is the perfect area to immerse yourself into the untouched wilderness of Botswana; The reserve boasts a plethora of habitats from open grasslands to cathedral Mopane forests, riverine habitats, and Kalahari scrub. Here, you will have high chances of an extreme variety of sightings due to such diverse terrain.

Your safari activities are varied, from game-drives and night-drives to bush walks looking at the smaller details of the bush. The different habitats make Mababe home to a superb range of wildlife to encounter, with breeding herds of elephant, giraffe, and of course the predators which include lion, leopard and hyena.

The extremely respectful sightings rules of Mababe, allowing a maximum of 4 vehicles per sighting and a maximum of 20 vehicles in the entire concession, make for a very natural experience for both the animal and safari-goer. The concession is ‘open’ until 10pm, whereby Letaka will conduct game-drives and walks up to this hour. The walking will take place in a designated walking area, where no vehicles are permitted which will ensure a much more enjoyable and immersive walking experience in the pristine wilderness.

You will be staying in simple but comfortable walk-in tents, measuring 3 x 4 metres (9 x 13 feet), with an ensuite bathroom with long drop toilet and bucket shower to the back. You will sleep on solid-based camp beds with mattresses, pillows and duvets, and towels are also provided, although toiletries such as shampoo are not. Your tents in Mababe are perched along the banks of the Khwai River, a constant magnet for all wildlife.
