Meno A Kwena
  • Day trip drive into Makgadikgadi and/or Nxai Pans National Parks with a picnic lunch

  • Located near three ecologically pristine wildlife sanctuaries

  • Relax around the natural plunge pool built of rock which overlooks the flowing Boteti River

  • Fascinating walks with the San bushmen, learning about their way of life

Meno a Kwena (Tooth of the Crocodile) sits above the Boteti River, which itself forms the boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. During the dry season, the waterholes of the river attract some 50,000 zebra each year - this is the second largest zebra migration in all of Africa.

Perched high on the riverbank of the Boteti River, the lounge area has an authentic feel, full of fascinating photographs and various intriguing objects from the African bush. A unique natural rock plunge pool is the perfect place in the dry season to observe the competition for water at the river's edge below.

A lot of emphasis is placed on the ‘theatre view’ from camp, so no matter where guests are they may watch the scenes play out below. Tents are protected by a thorny closure, yet still provide superb views of the wildlife enjoying the river below. If guests are keen for a closer view, a spacious floating hide offers uninterrupted views of the local wildlife, including hippo, elephant, giraffe, and many more.

The nine comfortable tents and one large family tent are traditionally decorated, reminiscent of the original safari experience. Alongside features such as outdoor bucket showers, which transport you back in time, each tent provides modern facilities such as flush toilets.

Excursions can be organised to incorporate three protected wildlife sanctuaries in the Kalahari – The Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans National Parks, and Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The location of the camp, puts it in a unique position to experience extensive and varied Kalahari safaris. One of the highlights is walking with the San Bushmen, who give a unique insight into their way of life, and provide an unforgettable safari experience.
