From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to Sri Lanka's southwestern half, while the dry season here lasts from December to March. There is also an inter-monsoonal period in October and November when rain can occur in many parts of the island. Colombo and the low-lying coastal regions have an average temperature of 27°C.

The Maldives has a tropical climate distinguished by two seasons, or monsoons: the dry northeast monsoon from December to March, and the wet southwestern monsoon from May to November, with more strong winds and rain. April is a transitional period noted for clear water and heat. The temperature remains remarkably consistent at around 30°C.

Day 1-2

Sri Lanka's West Coast, Sri Lanka

Plunge straight into your Sri Lankan adventure at the arrival of The Wallawwa.  A former antique colonial manor house, now the home of Sri Lanka’s most exciting and unique luxury boutique hotel.   An unrivalled secluded setting it is the perfect base for you to rest after your flight and enjoy your first night of this amazing trip.  The fabulous onsite spa and beautiful gardens are ideal for sipping a pre-dinner G&T and getting some rest before you head off to Ceylon and the Hill Country tea trails.

Day 2-5

Hatton, Kandy and the Hill Country, Sri Lanka

Travel from The Wallawwa to Ceylon by seaplane, landing right on Castlereagh Lake by the hotel.  Ceylon Tea Trails promises the most luxurious tea experience in Sri Lanka’s Ceylon tea region, comprised of five restored historic tea planters’ bungalows, each completely unique. Boasting luxurious suites, a manager, butler service and chef. Rooms feature four poster beds, elegant bathrooms and verandas opening out onto private immaculate gardens. The food is fantastic with Sri Lankan classics and seafood grills using locally sourced ingredients some of which come from organic vegetable plots around the estate.

Follow the Tea Trail from one bungalow to the next, staying a night or two at each, or just stopping for lunch along your hiking route through the working tea plantations. A philosophy of ‘no menus, just indulgence’, this Relais and Chateux property promises an exquisite tea inspired culinary feast. The Tea Planters Picnic Lunch is a must, with delicious Sri Lanka dishes served in tiffin boxes, amidst the rolling tea plantations, with views over Castlereagh Lake beneath and the mountains above. You can be as lazy or as active as you want here, either lounging by the pool or trying some white-water rafting, riding, tennis, croquet, boating or visiting local tea estates. Excursions offered by the hotel include visits to Kandy the Hill Capital of Sri Lanka in the central highlands, Adam's Peak, Nuwara Eliya and the national parks of Horton Plains and Uda Walawe, Sri Lanka's top eco tourism destination in Sri Lanka and famous for its large population of elephants.

For a unique view of the hill country, an optional train journey from Hatton to Kandy offers breathtaking panoramas of lush tea fields, quaint villages, and mist-cloaked valleys, with Kandy’s rich culture awaiting at the journey’s end.

Day 5-7

Ella, Kandy and the Hill Country, Sri Lanka

A helicopter transfer will whisk you from Ceylon to Nine Skies, located a short distance to the awe-inspiring Nine Arch Railway Bridge.  A stunning colonial era resort with beautiful art pieces and artefacts working seamlessly aside modern amenities, providing a unique luxury experience and home away from home feel. Each bungalow opens on to the hotels garden terrace with stunning views across the valley with each room serviced by your very own private butler.

Nine Skies is an all-inclusive property so all meals and drinks including alcohol are already taken care off. The breakfast at Nine Skies is a highlight of anyone's stay and of course includes the traditional Sri Lanka pancake, hopper. Ask your private butler for snacks throughout the day and all butlers are more than happy to mix up your favourite cocktails to enjoy in your sitting room or veranda. At the front of the property with views over the valley is the infinity swimming pool which is perfect to cool off in after a few hours trekking.  During your stay in the Hill Country, explore the tea plantations where you can see the tea pluckers at work, visit a tea factory, or go for a walk through the rolling green hills.

Or head into Kandy for a private walking tour of this fascinating hill town, famous for its precious Buddhist relics.  Taking you through the town centre, you will visit the busy markets and the quaint shophouses, have tea at the historical Queen's Hotel before heading to a prayer session at the Temple of Tooth, home of Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist artefact - Buddha's tooth relic.

Inside each tent has air conditioning and understated earthy tones and your very own private plunge pool. Food here is bound to surpass expectations, especially with it being a Relais & Chateaux accredited property. Expect gourmet safari cuisine with a Sri Lankan flair.
