Key West
Lying at the very end of the sandbars, mangroves and coral islands that make up the Florida Keys, Key West is a pocket of development in this largely untouched archipelago. Pastel-hued houses lend a certain laidback Caribbean charm, the buzzing bars and restaurants give the town a party atmosphere, while offshore lies the spectacular coral of the Dry Tortugas National Park.
Though not known for its beaches, the coral reefs off Key West offer superb snorkelling and diving, while deep-sea fishing, jet skiing and kayaking take you out on the crystal clear waters of the keys. After a day on the water, sit back on the harbour with a well-deserved slice of Key lime pie as the cruise ships head out and sailboats bob in their wake.
