Mihingo Lodge has been built entirely using local materials, incorporating the large rocky boulders on the site and decorated with local Ugandan artefacts. It has been thoughtfully designed by the German owner and consists of ten luxury tented rooms on wooden platforms covered by a thatched roof. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, a flush loo and a veranda. There is also a thatched dining area and an infinity swimming pool with fantastic views over Lake Mburo National Park as well as a tennis court.
Lake Mburo is home to many different animal species, including zebra, waterbuck, warthog, and impala. Additionally, Lake Mburo has big numbers of waterbuck, topi, buffalo, hippo and if you are lucky you will see leopard, eland and crocodiles. Aside from lounging by the pool, enjoying the sounds of nature, or watching nearby wildlife, guests can also enjoy boat trips on Lake Mburo, forest and savannah walks, game drives in Lake Mburo National Park, horse riding (catering for all abilities) and night game drives.
In appreciation of its fragile surroundings, Mihingo Lodge is an environmentally friendly lodge and the buildings are constructed in such a way as to melt into the rocky outcrops and savannah landscape around them. Electricity, hot water, and water pumps are powered by solar energy and there is a natural water catchment system to take advantage of the rains.
