Monterey Aquarium - The US #1
Monterey's aquarium is located on the former site of a sardine cannery; much more than a collection of glass tanks, 200 gallons of seawater provide homes to sea life from kid-tolerant starfish to friendly penguins, sea turtles and hammerhead sharks.
A range of special programmes are on offer for children to ensure an exciting and interactive experience, with fun underwater activities, behind-the-scenes tours, feeding sessions and short film screenings.
The Aquarium is open daily including Sundays and tickets can be purchased locally or in advance from the aquarium's website. Entrance is also included in the San Francisco City Pass.
