Jackson Hole has five distinct seasons: summer (usually June to August), fall (September through October), off-season (November), winter (December through March) and off-season (April and May).

July and August is the region's busiest time when two-thirds of Yellowstone's annual visitors go to the park. During the peak summer months a guide becomes even more valuable, able to get you off beaten track, with knowledge of animal territories and where to find them at the coolest parts of the day (dawn and dusk).

It is in spring that newborn elk, moose, bison and bears start appearing. Summers offer warm days and cool nights and a profusion of brightly coloured wildflowers. In autumn, the aspen and cottonwood run gold and red. It's also a great time to see bears, who are on a feeding frenzy in preparation for hibernation. In November, the Elk will start to come down to the Elk Refugee bordering town.

When the snow starts to fall, day safaris can be taken by jeep in the Grand Tetons and snow-mobile or snow-coach in Yellowstone. It's a magical time to visit, as the animals come down to lower elevation for winter and wildlife watching becomes all the easier against a crisp white background.

Itinerary

Day 1-3

Jackson Hole, The Rockies, United States of America

Be wowed from the off, arriving at the Hotel Terra, your boutique retreat for the next two nights. Boasting breath-taking scenery and epic outdoor adventure with indoor elegance, exceptional service and facilities, this is the epitome of mountain luxury along with a strong bias towards eco-sustainability.

Hotel Terra is the perfect oasis for rest and recuperation in a calming and luxurious atmosphere. Relax on the rooftop as you soak in the stunning heated infinity pool and enjoy a cocktail or two before dinner at the wonderful Il Villaggio Osteria. The location is second to none, letting you explore the buzz of Teton village with more delicious dining options, boutique shopping and an abundance of fun bars. Or why not head to The Chill Spa, perfect for restoring tired muscles with various treatments, steam showers and tranquillity lounge.

After your first evening, wake to an awesome day of adventure on a wildlife safari through the Grand Teton National Park. Be on the lookout for wildlife as your expert guide takes you through the elk refuge, visit Antelope Flats and Mormon Row to hopefully catch a glimpse of the bison and pronghorn herds that reside here. At a nearby ranch meet a real-life cowboy who will demonstrate his unique horse whispering skills to gently tame unruly stallions, an amazing sight to see. Now it’s your turn to saddle up for a horseback ride soaking up the incredible views of the Grand Tetons.

Spend the next day at your leisure exploring this amazing region where you can choose to be as active as you desire. Spend time making the most of the hotel's facilities; soak in the rooftop pool, take a visit to the spa or head out into the wilds for some more adventure. Rafting, fishing and of course hiking and biking are prominent here, so you can choose to do as little or as much as you wish.
End the day with a glass of wine and a delicious dinner before you depart for your next stage of the journey in the morning.
