Given that Vietnam is a long country, the weather patterns can vary greatly. In general, the best months to go if you are visiting north, central and south Vietnam are from January/February to March/April. In winter, northern Vietnam can get quite cold, and mountainous areas such as Sapa can experience regular mists, although it is usually fairly dry. In June and July this region can get very hot. Central Vietnam is at its best from January to April, and although there is a higher chance of rain from April to September, this is still a good time to travel. The central coast experiences heavy rain from September to November/December. Southern Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, is always hot and humid, with the best weather between November to March. This area can get very wet in summer months, with regular flooding.

Day 1-4

Hanoi, Vietnam

Leap into the charming capital of Vietnam, Hanoi, for the start of your adventure.  Three nights in the luxurious Sofitel Metropole will give you plenty of time to explore the small city centre, or to venture further afield to visit the wonderful museums documenting Hanoi’s turbulent history.

Hit the streets with your local guide and begin your culinary adventure. Walk to the old quarter of Hanoi, winding down narrow streets where you will sample delicious Pho Bo, a beef noodle soup, before exploring the wet market. Hundreds of varieties of colourful vegetables line the street as locals barter away at the many stalls. This perfectly depicts daily life here.

A fascinating journey takes you to uncover hidden Hanoi, exploring as a local through the small alleyways, local markets ending with a meal in a restaurant that transports you back to the 1970s. In your own time you can venture on foot into the tangle of narrow wooden buildings and crumbling coffee houses that make up the winding lanes of the Old Quarter, just a few minutes’ walk from your door. Great for unique shopping and exploring, you can really enjoy a day losing yourself in these entirely authentic back streets.

Accommodation: Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi ( 3 nights )
Day 4-6

Halong Bay, Vietnam

Leave the buzz of Hanoi behind you and fly by private seaplane to the waters of Halong Bay for the next two nights of your journey.  Paradise Peak is one of the most luxurious junk boats in the bay, with just eight cabins, it offers the privacy and a more intimate experience that you yearn for.  Enjoy the exclusive private butler service on board - this is so much more than just cruising. It is the small touches and attention to detail which make this boat appear like a luxury floating hotel.

While away the time soaking up the majestic views as you cruise around the bay, taking in the sights of Bai Tu Long Bay, Halong Bay, Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island; you will never tire of the dramatic scenery that surrounds you! You will be able to visit a local fishing village on a rowing boat, swim the clear waters off a private beach, fish with locals and visit a different world through the caves that line the shore. On board you can do as much or as little as your desire, from Vietnamese cooking classes, tai chi, wine tasting or simply watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand.

Accommodation: Paradise Peak ( 2 nights )
Day 6-10

Ninh Vanh Bay, Vietnam

It is time to be whisked away to the secluded bay of Ninh Vahn Bay, where the East Vietnam sea stretches endlessly before you.  Sheer luxury, pure paradise, ultimate tranquillity all in the upmost of luxury, here you can only but relax at this hidden sanctuary.

Giving you everything that Six Senses does best, legendary cuisine and facilities with a totally relaxed atmosphere and a stunning beach location, all the while feeling remote and intimate. Spend time at the beach or pool take to water for snorkelling and diving or enjoy the plethora of excursions that can be arranged for you by boat, bicycle, jeep and motorbike to visit islands, villages, waterfalls and more.

Accommodation: Six Senses Ninh Van Bay ( 4 nights )
Day 10-12

Saigon, Vietnam

Feeling rejuvenated and raring to go as you take a private transfer to Ho Chi Minh to plunge into the deep history and culture that exudes.  The stunning colonial Park Hyatt is the most luxurious property in the heart of Saigon, an oasis to retire to at the end of your days exploring Saigon.

We highly recommend taking a private half day tour ‘Retracing The Past; Saigon's Wartime History’ where you will see the key sites connected to Saigon’s wartime history, including the Reunification Palace, the former residence of 1960s US Ambassador Mr. Henry C. Lodge Jr, and the rooftop of the famous Rex Hotel.

Take dinner at the Former US Ambassador’s Residence in Saigon, a special occasion to experience whilst you are in Saigon.  This stylish residence has been restored to his former glory where a cocktail reception complete with traditional dance performances can be enjoyed in the intimate courtyard, before a sophisticated Vietnamese meal in the magnificent dining room. The entire evening is accompanied by live music to create a truly memorable experience.
