  U.S. passport holders should apply online for a single-entry e-visa that's valid for a maximum of 30 days. It cannot be renewed or extended while in Vietnam.

Due to the tropical climate throughout most of Vietnam, light, loose clothing is recommended.

Culturally, Vietnam is a very conservative country and people dress modestly. Therefore, we recommend you keep this in mind when packing for your tour. This will be especially important when you travel outside of the major towns and cities.

If you're visiting religious sites, ensure that your shoulders and knees are covered. This applies if you're visiting Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum or the countryside too. Also, you must remove your hat when entering a temple.

Vietnamese people do not see public displays of affection as appropriate. Therefore, it's important that you follow their lead and keep any type of outward affection to a minimum.

Other important points to remember include removing footwear when you're inside a Vietnamese home or pagoda and asking before taking any photographs of local people.
