Bakwena has been built and designed with a focus on being environmentally friendly with a low carbon footprint. With a chalet design based on the traditional 'rondavel', rooms have been built using a pole structure and sandbag infill to provide plenty of space and some impressive thermal regulation which keeps the chalets warm in the cooler months and cool in the summer months. With ten River View Chalets, five Treetop Chalets and one Family Room, there's plenty of options for any guest. River View Chalets are nestled within the riverine forest and overlook the magnificent Chobe River, while the Treetop Chalets have been built on three metre stilts so guests can have some more privacy and feel more secluded from the rest of the lodge.
During a stay at Bakwena guests can head out on game drives into the Chobe National Park. Well known for its elephant population, you can also expect to see many other animal sightings too. With such close proximity to the Chobe River, an afternoon boat cruise is the perfect way to relax and see elephants as they come down to the river to drink, bathe and play.
