Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge is situated near a permanent channel of the Delta, offering a water and wilderness experience with the excitement of viewing big game on land in the game-rich Moremi Wildlife Reserve on a 270 square kilometre private concession. The Lodge is situated right on the southern tip of Chief’s Island, on the southern border of Moremi Game Reserve and within the Santantadibe River system.
The camp has recently undergone a full rebuild, and is now one of the most contemporary and original lodges in the whole of Botswana. Surrounded by forest, the unique chalets are styled in a fusion of ochres and tactile textures, with a curving outside mirroring the design of the main area. The chalets have bi-fold glass doors opening onto a wonderful deck with a plunge pool and exceptional views of the Okavango Delta wetlands and savanna. The design is nothing short of spectacular, and the rooms are raised on stilts to make the most of the views.
The central dining and sitting area is tucked under a towering canopy of trees, with a curving, flowing roof shaped like the armour of a pangolin. Here you'll find sunken lounges and quiet decks affording views across the waterways. The bar, on a higher level, is created from hundreds of strips of curving white wood, and leads to a long deck stretching out towards the waters - perfect for private dinners. A shaded swimming pool and well-stocked safari shop are close by. Pan-African dinners are prepared and served either around the fires which are lit in the cooler months, or outside under the stars.
The lodge’s prime location between permanent water and open plains means that guests can enjoy a variety of land wildlife activities in open 4 x 4 safari vehicles, and the game in this area is prolific, with wild dog, lion and leopard often being spotted. The guides work in a team of guide and tracker, and together ensure that the wildlife experience they give their guests is second to none.
