For years, Refugio Paine Grande has drawn hikers from around the world thanks to its strategic location at the junction of two legs on the famous W-Trek.
The refugio accommodates 100 guests across 22 dormitories, each sleeping either two, four or six people. Each room offers spectacular views to Lake Pehoé, the heights of Paine Grande, the French Valley or the east side of the Cuernos. Bathrooms are shared, although there are separate facilities for men and women.
Meals are served in the restaurant and, with fantastic views to the Pehoé Lake, the upstairs bar provides a great spot to plan the next day’s activity over a Chilean wine or pisco sour. There is also a souvenir shop on site, where guests can pick-up mementos of their adventure.
