Year round destination, although November to April are the best months for sunshine. The ‘Green’ season, from May to October, is a good time to visit: it’s sunny in the mornings with rain in the afternoons. The quietest period is April to early June. The rain can be particularly strong in September and October.
Rafting is possible all year round, though the river might be slightly colder during the green season.

Fly to San Jose
Central Valley, Costa Rica
Just a stones throw from San Jose, submerge in the dense rainforest of Central Valley, with national parks bursting with wildlife and plantation covered rolling hills. El Silencio Lodge & Spa is an exclusive eco-friendly hideaway set in a 500 acre private reserve surrounded by tropical cloud forest and waterfalls.
An abundance of excursion can be enjoyed; coffee tasting, horse riding, hiking, river rafting, bird watching, tours to nearby Juan Castro Blanco National Park, Medicine Forest Walk, night hiking, chocolate and coffee tours, rappelling, canopy zip-lining, and visits to the Arenal and Poas volcanoes. There is definitely something to capture your heart in this diverse ecosystem.
Arenal, Costa Rica
From the Central Valley head north to the iconic Arenal Volcano. Arenal is a great base for all kinds of adventure activities, from canopy walks, to horse riding, white-water rafting and trekking. We’ve included fascinating tour that will see you traverse a series of hanging bridges in the National Park, a great way to spot birdlife and other creatures who dwell in the rainforest canopy. This geo-thermal area is also famous for its natural hot springs – the perfect place to ease tired muscles after a day’s activity!

Golfo Dulce, Costa Rica
After exploring Arenal, transfer back to San Jose where you’ll catch a short flight to Puerto Jimenez. From here continue on to the Golfo Dulce for a stay at the fabulous Playa Cativo Lodge. Playa Cativo is secluded, surrounded by jungle and offers spectacular views out to the water from the comfort of luxurious rooms. You have the freedom to explore the self-guided trails that surround this remote lodge at your own pace as well as complimentary use of the kayaks, stand up paddle boards and snorkelling gear so as to explore the bay and become acquainted with resident spotted dolphins! To help you maximise your time in this gorgeous corner of the world, we’ve included a snorkelling trip in the Golfo Dulce and also a dolphin and whale watching excursion.

Manuel Antonio National Park, Manuel Antonio & Uvita, Costa Rica
Your final stop is Manuel Antonio, a region that has been popular for many years now and with good reason. Your hotel is the best in the area, a beautiful hideaway away from the crowds, with its own private beach so the perfect spot to unwind as your adventure comes to a close.
The adventure's certainly not over yet though: included in your stay is a guided tour through the National Park, where you’ll observe sloths hanging in the trees, share the beach with monkeys and iguanas and the can take a dip in the ocean, which is suitable even for young or less confident swimmers. We recommend using Manuel Antonio as a base to explore this stretch of Pacific coastline. Tours and activities offered include white water rafting, mangrove kayaking and boat tours, guided rainforest hikes, ocean kayaking, catch and release sport fishing, canopy tours and horseback riding excursions. Restaurants and bars are within easy reach.
