Taj Lake Palace

The Taj Lake Palace is a world famous luxury hotel that sits exclusively in the middle of Lake Pichola in Udaipur. With the lake and backdrop of the Aravalli mountains the palace has the most unique of settings and is an unforgettable experience.

Udaipur, Rajasthan, India
  • Very unique lake location and historical building

  • You can only visit this property if you are a hotel guest so the property feels very exclusive indeed

  • A great arrival experience by boat

  • This is a relatively small property which is incredibly popular - book early especially over peak periods

Probably one of the most romantic hotels in the world, Udaipur’s 250-year old Taj Lake Palace offers guests a unique blend of serenity and opulence. The exquisite white marble palace, which appears to float on the still waters of Lake Pichola was built in the 18th century on a natural foundation of four acres of rock by Maharana Jagat Singh II.

The hotel is reached by boat and offers 83 beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites with fabulous views overlooking the lake and the Aravalli mountains. Rooms are adorned with elegant old-world artefacts, furniture and glass mosaics giving a truly luxurious feel.

The Lily Pond Courtyard is perfect place for al fresco dinners along with theme events on the Mewar Terrace. You can also take lake trips on the ceremonial barge for exclusive parties.

Despite being on its own small island, has plenty of facilities such as the beautiful swimming pool, Jiva spa and two restaurants offering both Indian and international cuisine. The hotel will be happy to arrange cultural excursions to explore Udaipur and the surrounding area or even a spa experience on the spa boat which can sail to calm and scenic spot on the lake.

This property is perhaps Rajasthan's most iconic hotel and an amazing choice to experience Udaipur in style.
