Serian Camp is a traditional bush camp with a very home away from home feel with its expansive mess deck overlooking the Mara River. In the main area there is a cosy indoor fireplace, and lots of chairs to curl up in and the outdoors deck area is the perfect spot for wining and dining whilst enjoying the views. The emphasis is on the traditional, natural wildlife experience and it epitomises the off-the-beaten-track safari. The guiding here is absolutely phenomenal and really embodies the African spirit. A huge bonus of the Serian camps is that they all include private vehicles in the cost of the accommodation so your safari experience can be as gentle or intense as you wish with wake-up calls whenever suits you. The area opposite the camp boasts 4,000 acres of walking concession that is exclusively for the use of Serian guests. The Mara is famous for the annual wildebeest migration but there is also so much else to do here and other activities on offer consist of day and night game drives, guided bush walks, bush breakfasts, picnics and sundowners, and cultural visists.
Unique in their own way, each of the huge five tented rooms is furnished with large double beds flanked by bedside tables and writing desks. The adjoining “bush bathrooms” include a shower, twin basins, large bush bathtub overlooking the river and flush loo. One of these is a family tent with two bedrooms.
For the adventurous there is an incredible Tree House set high up and overlooking the bush to one side and river to the other. Spending a night here is a magical and unforgettable experience and the state of the art night vision cameras will allow you to continue you game viewing well after dark before you fall asleep under a blanket of stars.
