Activities at El Karama
El Karama is a private 14,000 acre reserve with no other properties making this a true wilderness location. Guests staying on the reserve have the freedom to enjoy a wide number of activities which are included throughout the stay.
Head out with experienced guides on 4x4 game drives in search of big game. The El Karama reserve is home to over 80 different wildlife species including four of the big five (excluding rhino) and a number of endangered species such as the grevy zebra and reticulated giraffe. Discover the smaller creatures and flora and fauna on a guided walking safari. Walks are all tailored to you depending on your fitness but for those who have the time, we do recommend one of the longer hikes lasting 2 - 3 hours which take in incredible views of the surrounding landscapes. Learn about the conservation efforts on the reserve and join a ranger patrol or take a behind the scenes eco tour of the lodge, farm and gardens.
For the more adventurous, we recommend a night fly camping, a unique experience sleeping in a suspended tree tent under the stars. This is suitable for younger explorers as well and makes for a very memorable night. For keen photographers, time spent in the hidden rock hide will offer close up and personal shots of wildlife capturing the animals from a very different perspective. Enjoy bush breakfasts and bush dinners out on the plains or under the shade of an acacia tree for a magical dinning experience or join the chef in the interactive kitchen for a cooking lesson. However you choose to spend your time, we're sure you will leave El Karama with long and lasting memories.
