Average time to visit
The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October. This is also a great time of year to visit Madagascar, with warm and settled conditions and wonderful widlife opportunities, with lemurs giving birth to their young from September.

Itinerary

Fly into Nairobi
Day 1-5

Maasai Mara and Southern Kenya, Kenya

Fly into Nairobi International airport where you will be met by a representative, and transported to the smaller Wilson airport, where you will board a light aircraft. Begin your wildlife viewing odyssey in the renowned Maasai Mara. Here you will be able to enjoy game drives as well as walking safaris and cultural visits to the local Maasai community; all of which will give you a well-rounded and ever-changing experience. The Maasai Mara is home to year-round excellent game viewing, but between August and September you will also be able to witness what is billed as the greatest wildlife show on earth: the million-strong Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra as they search for fresh pastures with nail-biting river crossings providing a spectacle as crocodile, leopard, lion and cheetah prey on the migrating herds.

Accommodation: Kicheche Bush Camp ( 4 nights )
Day 5-6

Nairobi Airport

From the Maasai Mara you will fly back to Nairobi. Upon landing in Wilson you will be transported to a hotel close to the international airport where you will spend one night before flying onto Madagascar. Relax and unwind after your exhilarating Kenyan safari, or visit some of Nairobi’s popular tourist destinations such as The David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage or the Giraffe Centre.

Accommodation: The Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport ( 1 night )
Day 6-9

Andasibe, Eastern Madagascar, Madagascar

You will continue by road the next day to the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. Andaside is the perfect introduction to lemur viewing in Madagascar and although one of the busier areas, it is the only area of the country where you can see the largest species of lemur, the Indri. Exploring Andasibe, Mantadia and lemur island with your guide on foot you will be able to spot a variety of lemurs, reptiles and other fauna here. Evenings will be spent in search of the elusive nocturnal species of Madagascar on night walks with your expert guide.

Accommodation: Mantadia Lodge ( 3 nights )
Day 9-10

Antananarivo, Madagascar

Explore the rainforest at Andasibe one final time in search of the teddy-bear faced Indri, this lemur is one of the few animals in the world that cannot survive in captivity. You will then be driven back to Antananarivo where you will spend a night in a small guest house where you can relax and refresh.

Accommodation: Relais des Plateaux ( 1 night )
Day 10-15

North West Coast, Madagascar

The following morning you will take a flight to the private Anjajavy Reserve on a remote stretch of Madagascar’s west coast. Here you will find the perfect balance between exclusive wildlife viewing and beach relaxation. There are plenty of activities on offer here with the chance to take boat trips to limestone tsingy and the beautiful Moramba Bay as well as exploring the dry deciduous forest in search of the dancing Coquerel sifaka and visiting the local community projects which give an insight into Madagascar’s unique and diverse cultures. For those looking for a laidback stay there are beautiful hidden coves which are perfect for lazy picnics with wonderful snorkelling to tempt you into the water, or enjoy tea time in the Oasis with lemurs leaping between the trees. Sit back and enjoy a final spectacular sunset over the Indian Ocean as you enjoy the fresh catch of the day to mark the end of your wonderful wildlife explorations.
