Located in the sparkling turquoise waters of Thaa Atoll, Maalifushi offers a mix of 65 exquisite villas and suites, both on land and over-water.
The island is a nature lover's paradise. Thick jungle gives the resort a real tropical island feel, and wildlife is never far away, with fascinating crabs that dig holes in the sand, fruit bats that hang in the trees, or majestic rays that traverse the house reef and coral gardens.
In contrast to the jungle exterior, the villas and suites are luxurious, beautifully comfortable and very spacious. Each villa and suite enjoys its own private pool and decking area. The over-water accommodation offers spectacular open views across the ocean, whereas the beach based rooms have a line of vegetation in front with a small path leading through to the shore, creating additional privacy.
There are good accommodation options for families, with a two-bedroom Family Beach Suite and two two-bedroom Family Beach Villas on land. For families looking for something extra special, the over-water COMO Villas provide an incredible amount of space. Spread out over 4,392 square feet, these two-bedroom villas boast a large private pool, a kitchen, an enormous living area, as well as plenty of outdoor seating spots to enjoy the stunning views.
As well as the excellent family accommodation, the resort also has a fantastic Kids Club which has both indoor and outdoor play areas. For older children, there is a games room with TVs and a pool table.
The island offers guests three dining options; 'Madi', the all-day dining restaurant where international cuisine is given a Maldivian twist and 'Tai', a Japanese-inspired restaurant serving sashimi and sushi. 'Thila' pool and lounge bar also serves light meals, woodfired oven-baked pizzas and ice cream.
Maalifushi is also home to an award winning Shambhala Spa offering holistic, Asian-inspired treatments including signature massages, facials and Ayurveda. The eight treatment rooms are set over the water and are delightfully light and airy. The spa also offers complimentary yoga each day and has indoor and outdoor pavilions.
There is also a large range of exciting excursions and activities available including fishing. The resort is host to a Tropicsurf centre; a world-renowned surf school. There is also excellent diving in the area, and as the Thaa Atoll is relatively uncharted, visitors to Maalifushi could be some of the first to explore new dive sites.
Snorkelling, kayaking and paddle-boarding are all complimentary, and there are also three complimentary snorkelling boat trips per week. Water-skiing, wake-boarding and tube rides can be arranged at the dive centre, as well as a number of fun boat trips, including sunset dolphin cruises, sunset line fishing and game fishing. This means you can be as active or relaxed as you like during your stay, and there is something to enjoy for everyone.
