Itinerary

Day 1-2

Malta

Plunge into this utterly divine itinerary from the off as you are greeted in style with a private chauffeur service from the plane, what better way to start your trip. From the plane you will receive a seamless guided service through the airport and a relaxing private transfer to the hotel. Just sit back and relax!
As you drive through the narrow, cobbled streets of Valletta, take in the vast Grand Harbour views as you turn the corner and arrive at the exquisite Iniala Harbour House hotel, your boutique luxury hotel for the next four nights. Spread over four beautiful townhouses with several ancient vaults, sitting proud on the prestigious street of Saint Barbara Bastions, the hotel overlooks Malta's stunning Grand Harbour. You will be staying in the Presidential Penthouse Suite, boasting a balcony with secluded plunge pool, as well as a large terrace with a dipping pool overlooking the harbour, offering the height of luxury.

Once you have had time to settle into the hotel, we recommend you head to the Bridge Bar for a sundowner in the very best of atmospheres, epitomising the definition of coolness. Here you can soak up the buzz of Valletta with its live jazz on a Friday night, as people gather on the steps with only cushions and a great glass (or bottle) of vino to take it all in.  A super start to the evening before you head to Iniala’s two Michelin starred restaurant ION The Harbour, for a mind-blowing tasting menu. Situated on the rooftop commandeering the evening harbour views, be mesmerised by the ambience, the first class and friendly service, the food to the wine pairing, everything has been seamlessly integrated to provide an elevated dining experience that will surprise and delight each of your senses.

Day 2-3

Malta

Start the day with a delicious breakfast with the sun shining bright over the rooftop terrace and harbour, ready for your first full day taking in the very best that Valletta has to offer.

Meet your expert guide at the hotel and enjoy a pleasant walk along the harbour edge to the Upper Barrakka Gardens, with stunning views over the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities beyond. Here the story is set for your day ahead, understanding the rich history and culture of Valletta with its many rulers and the prominent Knights of St John. Make your way down to the harbour’s edge where your private Dghajsa (boat) will be waiting for you ready to transfer you to the city of Vittoriosa in the Three Cities, the main harbour city where the Knights settled when arriving in Malta in 1530. This is where a very exclusive experience awaits you as you visit the Upper Fort St Angelo for a private visit to the home of Knight Resident Fra. John Critien. Your private tour will be led by Fra. John himself, full of charm and character, he will let you in on the fascinating insights, stories and history of the fort as he proudly shows you around the grounds of his home. Not only will you get to explore the grounds and private chapel, but you will be treated to exceptional views of the Grand Harbour with some additional surprises just for you. This is a very special guided tour.

Followed by lunch at the Kings Own Band Club restaurant, in the King’s former residence when the Prince of Wales became King, the oldest band club in Valletta where you will enjoy relaxed dining in this magnificent setting.  After this delightful lunch you will beat the crowds and enjoy a private afterhours guided tour at the spellbinding St John’s Co-Cathedral which was built by the Order of St John and dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. Bursting with Baroque architecture, gold leaf décor and crammed full of fascinating history from top to bottom, the interior of the church is considered to be one of the finest examples of high Baroque architecture in Europe. Your guide will highlight the fascinating history, the nine niche chapels and the marble floor which is made up of an entire series of tombs, housing about 400 Knights and officers of the Order, before taking you to an exclusive viewing of the famous Caravaggio paintings: The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist and the Saint Jerome Writing.

Following your fascinating day, your evening will not disappoint. Be ready to be wowed as you indulge in a divine evening of exquisite surrounds and delectable food as you enjoy dinner in a private palazzino in the city of Cospicua in the Three Cities. The home, created over 10 years ago by a British couple, consists of two joined townhouses which have been meticulously restored to create a luxurious property. You will be greeted by the owners, and with a drink in hand you will have time to explore this fascinating home, taking in the plush décor, collection of art and rooftop views before you descend to the grand dining room for an exceptional evening meal and entertainment. Here you will be graced with the company of a traditional instrumental artisan, Francesco Sultana. His hobby is in creating traditional Maltese instruments such as the Maltese bagpipe which is made from a whole goat. You'll love hearing his story and the fascinating history behind these instruments, as well as the unique music he creates, wonderfully complimenting your evening meal.

Day 3-4

Malta

After another glorious breakfast you will be ready for an action-packed day as you discover the beautiful island of Gozo. Meeting your private speedboat at the jetty you will be whizzed across the open blue seas to Gozo. On the way you will have the chance to explore hidden coves, bays and beaches, as well as admiring the fascinating landforms from the water. Such as the Fungus Rock and everlasting face on the cliffs at Dwejra Bay. You will have the chance to take a dip and enjoy swimming in the aqua blue waters.

Once on shore you will be joined by your guide who will take you on an exhilarating quad bike adventure to explore the island. You will get the chance to discover Gozo’s natural wonders taking you along quiet roads and tracks as you stop at the many beauty spots as you go. One of the main highlights is Wied il-Mielah, a stunning limestone natural arch that spans the crystal-clear piercing blue sea. The valley that leads to the ‘window’ is rich in flora and a lovely place to walk especially in the autumn and spring. The way down the valley is like a botanical display of vegetation typical of the Mediterranean, once you get there you will be greeted with the amazing view of the towering arch and the sparkling sea. Your quad bike adventure will also take you past the famous Xwejni Salt Pans, where the production of sea salt has a long tradition in Gozo and the saltpans found near Marsalforn are still used today.

Next you will stop for a sublime alfresco picnic lunch, in a secluded setting whether on the beach, meadow or prime beauty spot you will be wowed by this very special experience. A beautiful spread handmade by the incredible Ana will be glistening before you, offering a collection of handmade delicacies crafted to your tastes, including local wine and Maltese coffee to complement the serenity of your environment. The setting itself brings the wow factor but the food and style takes it all to the next level. Feeling content after your relaxing lunch you will head to take in the striking coastline of Dwejra Bay. Just off the sheer cliffs of Western Gozo lies ‘Fungus Rock’, some 60 metres high. You will also have the opportunity to explore the Inland Sea, a beautiful calm sea lake connected to the open Mediterranean Sea by a natural cave that forms narrow straight tunnels through the cliffs that have been chiselled by the natural elements. The special light creates piecing blue water that shines in the shadows of the dramatic cliffs. Your private speedboat will then return you to back to Valletta, with time to relax back at the hotel.

Another Michelin starred delight awaits you this evening at Under Grain, here you will devour an exceptional tasting menu, located at the luxury boutique hotel, Rosselli. Classic dishes have been reinvented into contemporary works of art, introducing the combination of new ingredients with farm to table meats. Fresh fish brought in daily from the local fishermen is prepared delicately to exult the taste of the sea, while marrying it with interesting sides that complement the plate. This refined experience extends itself to the service. Under Grain's aim is to see you leave the restaurant with a sense of satisfaction, and the realisation that a classic dinner is still possible in today’s world of cuisine.
