Converted from an 1820s colonial home, Hotel Hacienda Merida VIP provides a beautiful haven within the lively centre of Merida, the capital of Mexico's Yucatan. Surrounding a peaceful courtyard garden with a large swimming pool, it provides plenty of space for cooling off in the heat of the sun, as well as being perfectly placed to explore the colonial streets outside.
As well as an ideal location for exploring this historical city, Hacienda Merida VIP can also be used as a base to visit the impressive Mayan ruins at Uxmal, as well as the many other ruins which dot the peninsula. The vast site of Uxmal is a sight to behold and its architecture gives a nod to the important religious design features which can be found across a number of the Yucatan's ruins, including nearby Chichen Itza. From Merida, you can also reach the impressive Celestun Biosphere Reserve, home to hundreds of pink flamingos.
The hotel itself boasts just six bedrooms, some with a private balcony overlooking the pool and some in the colonial part of the hotel further back. All rooms offer high thread count bedding, as well as satellite TV, fans, AC, iPod docks and king-size beds. Rollaway beds are available for families.
