The Yucatán Peninsula is hot and humid. The best time to visit is typically during the drier, slightly milder months between November and April. The ‘rainy’ season begins in the south around June and runs until November. Although it can be hotter and more humid at this time of year, usually it only rains for a couple of hours before the weather clears. The wettest months tend to be September and October.

The Caribbean coast can be affected by the hurricane season, which officially is from June to November.

Itinerary

Day 1-4

Merida, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

Your bespoke luxury Perfect Pairings break is raring to go. Arrive at the stunning Chable Yucatan, your hotel for the next three nights. A beautiful wellness retreat which seamlessly blends the contemporary with the traditional through its striking architecture and rejuvenating spa treatments. The resort has a variety of treatments that range from Mayan healing to traditional yoga to ensure your every need is met.

The following morning be ready and raring to go for an exquisite tour and unique foodie adventure of Merida. Lose yourself in the flavours of Yucatán as you explore Mérida’s ornate streets, vibrant markets, and favourite traditional eateries. During the adventure, you will also discover the historical centre’s colonial style architecture, grand building facades, and vivid colours. To end the experience, a visit will be made to El Colón on the elegant Paseo de Montejo Avenue. The traditional candy and sorbet shop, founded in 1907, serves up tangy sorbet and refreshing champola, a classic frozen drink made from milk and fresh fruit.

The next day can start at a leisurely pace as you now have a day at the hotel to make the most of the wellness facilities here. Providing a true escape, the spa at Chablé has been moulded from a cenote, an underground Mayan cave which forms a truly stunning natural setting in which to unwind.

Devour your breakfast as you prepare to be wowed on this truly unique visit to Chichen Itzá. You will be privileged to explore an area that is not yet open to the public. Located more than a kilometre from the main structures of Chichen Itza, ‘Chichen Viejo’ is an archaeological zone that includes several ancient Mayan structures thought to be an extensive compound once home to Mayan elites. After this fascinating experience you will be driven to the stunning Chable Maroma, your hotel for the next couple of nights.

Day 4-6

Riviera Maya & Isla Holbox, Mexico

Chable Maroma is a majestic property on the stunning Riviera Maya. Boasting a wide stretch of white sandy beach, an off-shore coral reef, sandwiched between the Caribbean Sea and verdant jungle - perfectly set up for a relaxing beach break. At day’s end, think yoga by the sea or meditation on your private terrace.

The following morning you are in a for a very special treat as you journey into the amazing Río Secreto, the longest cave system in the Yucatán Peninsula, semi-submerged in crystal clear water. Get ready to enter the underground cave system, a natural museum of rock formations, which tells the geological history of the area. With your guide, you’ll walk and swim following an otherworldly 1km route. Admire hundreds of stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over many years, in a surreally beautiful setting. Exiting the caves, toast to a truly unique experience with Xtabentún, a regional Yucatecan liqueur made from anise seed, honey and rum. To complete your adventure, refuel with a regional buffet and fresh, flavoured waters before you return to the hotel. Submerge in the splendour that this hotel offers for your final evening in this sensational region of Yucatan.

Tuck into one last breakfast in full view of ocean and relish in the adventures of the last six days. The time has come to be transferred to the airport for your homeward flight.
