Formed of seven historic riads, IZZA Marrakech is a stunning boutique hotel in the heart of the city’s Medina. Full of Moorish charm and Moroccan craftsmanship, the property is a beguiling tangle of atmospheric courtyards, elegant archways, wooden carved doors, elegant tilework, grand salons, and pretty roof terraces, adorned by a gallery-worthy contemporary art collection. Despite its location, IZZA is infused with a deep sense of calm and tranquillity and prides itself on being seven homes transformed into one House of Friends. The hotel is named after the respected Berber woman whose home was on the site, Dalla IZZA. Known for her hospitality, wisdom and generosity, IZZA encapsulates her spirit.

Designed by the imaginative Bill Willis, this boutique gem is a fabulous blend of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship and flamboyant modernity, enhanced by the world-class contemporary, digital and AI-generated art that features throughout the property. In fact, the hotel plays host to the growing art collection of the Museum in the Medina. As such, it is a popular choice for those in the creative community.

Each of the 14 rooms has been carefully curated and all are named in honour of icons from Morocco’s counterculture past including Alan Ginsberg, Peter Bowles, Jack Kerouac, Marianne Faithful, Grace Jones and Yves Saint Laurent. Moroccan features are enhanced by carefully selected artworks, along with modern conveniences including climate control, Wi-Fi, and premium linens. The vibe is one of stylish sophistication. For the ultimate indulgence book the IZZA apartment with private courtyard and fountain, open plan living with mid-century furnishings, library, galleried kitchen and direct access to the main terrace.

The intimate roof terrace restaurant is a delightful place to dine with views across the Medina. Enjoy fabulous pastries, eggs and loubia (beans) for breakfast, and an accomplished range of Moroccan and Mediterranean sharing dishes for lunch and dinner, designed to encourage sociability. Produce is local, seasonal and sustainable, and prepared with both traditional cooking methods and Mediterranean flair. For craft cocktails and sheer decadence, Bill’s Bar is a celebration of Bill Willis’ charismatic charm and hedonism, making it a wonderful place to soak up the IZZA vibe.

Guests can cool off in one of two plunge pools or enjoy a swim in the 10m heated pool in one of the three courtyards. There is also a small spa with tailored treatments and hammam, where guests can enjoy an invigorating traditional ritual including oil bath, exfoliation, massage and body wrap. For working out, there is a 24-hr fitness centre equipped with a Tonal Smart Gym System and Peloton treadmill.
