Shipwreck Lodge
  • Appreciate the harshness of the desert and the beauty of these expansive landscapes.

  • Experience these extraordinary ‘Shipwreck-style’ cabins, the design inspired by many of the famous shipwrecks found along this dramatic coastline.

  • Dine under a blanket of stars by night and wake to the incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean.

  • Spot desert adapted animals, explore clay castles and emmerse yourselves in this fascinating ecosystem.

Perched amongst the dramatic dunes of Namibia's Skeleton Coast, Shipwreck Lodge is a unique and exciting concept combining distinctive design, an unrivalled location within the park and fantastic opportunities for both wildlife viewing and desert adventures.

The lodge itself and each of the rooms will be designed to look like the shipwrecks for which this region is famed, allowing them to blend into the hauntingly beautiful surroundings and adding a sense of fun to this unspoiled wilderness. There are 12 rooms planned in total, including a family unit which links two en-suite rooms by an outdoor deck. Each of the rooms will be en-suite and will have its own private deck area with an outdoor bath from which you can soak in the impressive desert scenery.

To one side of the lodge you will find far-reaching golden sand, whilst the desert in the opposite direction is swathed in greenery, with marshland and forest providing water and habitat for the desert-adapted wildlife which roams the Skeleton Coast. Keep your eyes peeled for lions, elephants and kudu amongst other species. If the shipwrecks at the lodge don't prove to be enough, then a number of impressive remains can be found at Möwe Bay (where you can leave your car if self-driving) or nearby in the surrounding desert. Excursions can also be arranged to the seal colony at Möwe Bay, nearby Himba villages, Rocky Point for fantastic fishing or the remarkable roaring dunes.
