Bardia National Park, Nepal
Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge
  • Bardia National Park is much less visited than Chitwan and offers a more exclusive wildlife experience

  • Recently refurbished and the new rooms are of a superb standard

  • Tiger Tops are pioneers in terms of eco-friendly sustainable tourism practises

  • Food is grown in their organic garden and is lovely and fresh

Bardia is a very unspoilt and remote park, as most tourists travel to Chitwan due to its closer proximity to Kathmandu and Pokhara. Bardia is worth the extra effort in terms of travel, and guests are always rewarded with a quieter, more in depth wildlife experience.

Tiger Tops Karnali is  considered one of the very best lodges in Nepal both in terms of its accomodation  -  just 20 en-suite rooms, blending local Tharu design with international levels of comfort, they use neutral colours and fabrics and also their wildlife guiding.

Tiger Tops have always championed sustainable tourism, so the lodge is powered with Solar energy, and they grow organic meals with fresh vegetables and fruit grown in the grounds of the lodge.

They offer a wide range of wildlife experiences from walking, jeep and river safaris. The resident elephants are unable to go into the park anymore, but you can accompany them down to the river to bathe and have great interactions with them. The naturalists at Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge are second to none and your wildlife experience will be superb as a result.

If is fairly difficult to get to Bardia National Park, and it is best accessed by a domestic flight from Kathmandu followed by a 2-hour drive to the lodge. It is also not easy to combine Tiger Tops Karnali with Tiger Tops Thauru in Chitwan as this would involve flying back to Kathmandu then taking another domestic flight towards Chitwan. However, for keen birders or wildlife enthusiasts this is worth considering as the pairing of the two properties would be incredible.
