One of the world’s largest artificial lakes, Gatun was created by damming the Chagres River, to form the central waterway of the Panama Canal. This 3.5-hour boat trip is a chance to watch the enormous ships navigate the canal from the water, as well as spot the copious bird, marine and wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled to see white-faced capuchin and howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, iguanas, turtles, and crocodiles. Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, you will learn more about the history and impressive engineering of the Panama Canal, as well as the bird, marine and wildlife of the lake and surrounding rainforest.

The 4.5-hour tour includes transportation to and from city hotels, a 3.5-hour boat trip, an English-speaking guide, entrance fees and picnic lunch. We recommend wearing trainers or hiking shoes, long trousers, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and insect repellent. A pair of binoculars will also enhance the experience and do bring a water bottle
