Full Day Highlights of the Sacred Valley with Wayra Lunch
Wonderful full day private excursion to the village of Pisac home to its colourful Indian market and Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Lunch in Urubamba, followed by a visit to the impressive Inca town and fortress of Ollantaytambo.
Spend the day exploring the incredible Sacred Valley of the Incas, uncovering the history and culture of the Andean region by visiting fascinating archaeological sites, colourful markets and local towns.
As it is a private tour then there will be plenty of flexibility to speak with your guide on the day. First head to Pisac village famous for its local market and artisan stalls (best days to visit Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays). Time can be spent shopping or, for the more energetic, visiting the extensive Inca ruins at the top of the hill. Old Pisac ruins have much to explore, with a circular walk along well-defined Inca trail that passes through royal buildings, look-outs, terraces, tunnels and irrigation channels. The tour includes Astronomical Observatory, Main Tower, Urban area, Inca cemetery and deposits.
Stop for lunch at Wayra Restaurant at the Sol y Luna to enjoy the spectacular Peruvian horse show display, before visiting the Inca fortress town of Ollantaytambo: the site of the last big battle between the Incas and Spanish before the remaining Inca rebels fled into the jungles of Vilcabamba. In this well-preserved village, you can still feel the true magic of the Incas among the ruins. The hill-top, Inca sun temple displays some of the finest stonework in the area.
