What is 'Escape the Ordinary'?

We invite you to join our community by entering our second photo competition of the year – Escape the Ordinary. This is your chance to share the extraordinary moments you've captured during your travels, anywhere in the world, that redefine your concept of the ordinary.

Perhaps you swapped the daily grind of commuting for a luxury train ride through the Andes. Exchanged routine dog walks for thrilling walking safaris in the African bush. Replaced the traditional classroom with action-packed ski schools. Or traded cooking dinner for a local cooking class in Japan. Whatever you captured, we want to see it. Inspire us and redefine the ordinary. Pick out your best shots from your extraordinary moments and let us experience them through your lens.

Because we know no two trips are the same, and that ‘Escaping the Ordinary’ mean different things to different individuals, there are no set categories – the images you choose reflect what redefines your ordinary.

What You Could Win

PHOTOGRAPHY MASTERCLASS: THE BASICS & BEYOND - A photography course with Scott A. Woodward, valued at £2,500.

This immersive photography bootcamp offers participants both a fundamental introduction to photography and an in-depth exploration of narrative storytelling. Over three separate 2-hour workshops, Scott A. Woodward will guide you from simply taking pictures to making them.

How to Enter:

1. Email your entry to photocompetition@scottdunn.com
2. Include a short description of your image, including the location and what it captures.
3. Maximum 5 photos per guest entry.

Meet Our Judge

The winners will be selected by Scott A. Woodward – a visual storyteller whose photography regularly features in global publications like National Geographic Magazine, Condé Nast Traveller, Travel + Leisure, and more.

• Capturing the Moment: How well does the photo capture a unique and memorable travel moment?
• Emotional Impact: Does the photo evoke emotions or a sense of wonder?
• Visual Appeal: Is the photo visually pleasing with clear, well-composed elements?
• Theme Adherence: Does the photo relate to the theme of "Escape the Ordinary"?
• Personal Connection: Does the photographer's personal connection with the moment come through?
