Elephant stables was originally the wallawwa (ancestral home) of a Ceylonese nobleman, gaining it's name from the family elephants that grazed in the gardens.
There are five bedrooms located in the main house, and a separate garden cottage suite. All of the 6 rooms are fitted with the amenities of modern luxury living and give a flavour of the region due to the blend of authentic Sri Lankan artefacts and contemporary design used in the decoration. Elephant Stables has also just introduced a Royal Luxury Tent in the style of the famous Aman-i-Khas tents in India.
Being just 15-minutes from the centre of Kandy, and within close distance of some of Sri Lanka's most famous heritage sites, Elephant Stables is perfectly located to explore the rich history and culture of the hill country. Alternatively, for those relaxation days and evenings, you can chill out by the fire in the living room, take a dip in the infinity pool or explore the landscaped gardens surrounding the house.
Master Chef Indika has a team of three Chefs who produce delicious meals every day. Tuck into a full English breakfast in the morning, afternoon tea and the famous Sri Lankan Rice Curry for dinner.
When to visit
Go for Lemon Grass or Pepper Deluxe Rooms, as they in the old part of the building and have lovely Veranda's overlooking Kandy and the Knuckles Mountains.

Fly into Colombo, From there Elephant Stables is approximately 2-hours drive away. Alternatively, take a Cinnamon Air flight to Kandy and drive from the airport.
