Rubondo Island is the largest island national park in Africa and the 25,000 hectares that make up the island are all but untouched by man. Rubondo Island Lodge is perfect for anyone looking for a safari with a difference. It is a lakefront escape which offers a unique array of exciting activities without compromising on luxury.

Rubondo is an island national park meaning guests have unprecedented access to explore the island to their heart's content. Activities include forest walks, canoe trips, wild chimpanzee trekking and fishing for the iconic Nile Perch fish. The island is a bird watcher's paradise with over 200 recorded endemic and migratory species inhabiting the island.

The camp is situated on the shores of Lake Victoria and has eight luxury bandas, all of which have a spectacular view over the lake. Each banda is constructed mainly from local materials and the rooms are spacious and comfortable with an en-suite bathroom and dressing room. One of these is a family room, accommodating four, and another is a honeymoon suite. For those looking for an extra adventure, you can spend a night sleeping out in the treehouse, enjoying a romantic private picnic dinner and drinks enjoying the sunset.

This is a wild and wonderful retreat, an ideal complement to a safari and offering a perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. If you think you've seen it all, Rubondo will prove you wrong!

Rubondo Island is located on the south-western corner of Lake Victoria, the secong largest lake in the world. The park comprises of Rubondo and eleven smaller islands and covers a range of approximately 475 square kilometers. Rubondo Island is 26 kilometers long and at 10 kilometers wide.

To get to Rubondo Island it is a short flight from the Serengeti, making it a perfect add on after a safari.
