Kidepo National Park

The most remote of Uganda’s parks, Kidepo National Park lies in the very north of the country. Less visited than other parks, Kidepo has a rich variety of wildlife and many species that are found nowhere else in Uganda. The seasonality of the park’s two rivers ensures a high concentration of wildlife around the wetland of the southern Narus Valley, making for a fantastic safari experience.

Kidepo National Park

Only accessible by light aircraft, Kidepo National Park offers visitors a feeling of being in true African wilderness, due to the quiet surroundings, the vast array of wildlife throughout the savannah, and the stunning views across the horizon to the distant Lamoj Mountains. With some of the best numbers of lion in Uganda, as well as species such as wild dog, aardwolf and striped hyena which cannot be found elsewhere in the country, Kidepo National Park is well worth a visit. There are also opportunities to spot ostrich, cheetah, and Rothschild’s giraffe for some lucky visitors, and the park’s wetlands attract around 475 species of bird.
