Originally opened on the Edgartown Harbour in 1891, this grand shingle style New-England–style resort is the town's oldest hotel and with 141 rooms and suites spread among two main buildings and several cottages it is the largest hotel on Martha's Vineyard. Perfectly positioned within walking distance of the charming harbour town of Edgartown and with sweeping views over the sea towards Chappaquiddick Island , this is a perfect beach side hotel for a summer break.

Fresh blue and whites create a maritime feel for this seaside hotel which has both rooms in the main building (some overlooking the sea) and charming cottages of rooms in the surrounding gardens which are perfect for couples and families alike.

There are a selection of rooms and cottage suites which have been decorated with fresh beach colours and have the best of everything: kitchenettes, walk-in closets, flat-screen TVs, fireplaces, private gardens, and outdoor showers. Ask for suite 24 in the cottages for its relative seclusion, ocean view or for any of the more traditionally decorated, ocean-facing rooms in the main house.

You have the choice of all the restaurants of Edgartown on your doorstep but feeling lazy then try their spacious restaurant, Water Street overlooking the bay. Sophisticated New England–style dishes, and the comfortable bar, Henry's, serves an all-day menu and the restaurant has a large wrap around veranda where you can enjoy a cocktail watching the yachts sail by.

One of their attractions is to take out their 31-foot center console boat which will ferry you to a private beach for a picnic or let your children learn to sail from their private jetty and small beach where they have an excellent sailing programme. Explore the quaint town of Edgartown on a bicycle or a short walk. With golf, dining, beaching, sailing, their outdoor heated pool and small beach the Harbor View is a wonderful spot to explore the many attractions and activities offered Martha's Vineyard.
