With floor to ceiling windows, artisan craftsmanship, a gourmet kitchen and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views. Guests stay in one of the private log cabins spread throughout the extensive grounds. Crafted from the region’s towering spruce trees, the cabins are peaceful, authentic, and cosy, with Scandinavian styling, plush bedding with bamboo linens, fluffy towels, robes, slippers, and eco-friendly bath products. Each cabin has a large covered and furnished deck, filtered water, tea and coffee and high-speed Wi-Fi.

The spacious One-Bedroom Suite Cabins overlook the ocean. Sleeping up to two guests the sitting room includes a leather sofa, table, and well-stocked minibar, along with an ensuite bathroom. For larger groups and families, Two-Bedroom Deluxe Cabins sleep up to four, with an optional child bunkbed to increase capacity to five. Couples can trade up to a One-Bedroom Deluxe Cabin with both waterfront and mountain views, where guests can watch otters swim past from the private deck.

One of the last remaining buildings built by the original homesteaders, Jack Jacob ‘Rusty’ Lein, book the One-Bedroom Jr Suite Cabin for a taste of history. Sleeping up to three guests, the cabin includes a kitchenette. Or for a real treat, book Alaska’s Presidential Chalet. Formerly the owner’s art studio, this VIP cabin is located on the highest part of the property with 360-degree views of Halibut Cove, Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains. There’s a private helipad which doubles up as a great place for watching the sunrise and the wildlife. The private deck includes a sauna, hot tub, and sunset viewing spot. The cabin sleeps up to six guests.

Based in the main lodge the dining rooms have wonderful views of the gardens, mountains, and ocean. The award-winning Executive Chef specialises in farm-to-table cuisine made using homegrown produce and there is an extensive wine cellar. There is also an in-room private dining option. Each evening daily cocktails and beer are served in the comfortable lounge, where you can chat with fellow guests or simply sit and enjoy the views. After dinner, guests can also enjoy a spot of campfire storytelling, while roasting marshmallows.

The main lodge cabins, gardens and onsite dock are all connected by a series of well-lit and tended pathways and guests can enjoy a hike around the property’s 3-mile panoramic Native Trail. The private dock allows for kayaking and paddleboarding direct from the lodge, for the opportunity for close encounters with the sea otters. Also on offer is whale, bear and bird watching, glacier viewing, tide pooling and world-class fishing. For relaxation, the lodge has yoga, stretching and dance spaces and private sauna.
