Centrally located on 24th street and Madison Avenue, The New York EDITION offers 273 unique rooms and luxurious contemporary suites overlooking the iconic New York skyline. Part of entrepreneur and hotelier Ian Schrager's boutique EDITION hotel collection, the hotel delivers extraordinary style and an exceptional level of service. Originally built in 1909 as the headquarters for The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, the clock tower is a Big Apple landmark. On the second floor, celebrated Michelin-starred Chef Jason Atherton's The Clocktower is the talk of the town, outfitted in mahogany wood panelled walls and curated art this is the British chef's American debut. Guests can cap off a meal with cocktails in the billiards room or at the opulent Gold Bar made entirely of 24k gold leaf beneath a 3-foot chandelier designed by Eric Schmidt. The Lobby Bar serves bespoke cocktails and serves as a gathering place for breakfast, lunch or a light dinner for guests and New York locals alike.
There are plenty of stand-out restaurants within walking distance from the hotel, from the renowned 11 Madison to Eatily's fun roof top restaurant La Birreria. The original Shake Shack is located 2-minutes from the hotel entrance, with fairy lights and outdoor heaters, its open year long. The park comes to life in the summer, with live music from children's entertainment through to jazz evenings and there are daily pop-up's at Madison Square EATS.
When to visit
The old clock tower was built in 1909, which is pretty old for New York, it's incredible to think it was here before much of the city that surrounds it and it offers an awesome place to get a 360 view of the Big Apple!
