Welcome to Oslo! Upon your arrival, a dedicated AE Expeditions representative will warmly greet you and ensure a smooth transfer to your luxurious hotel. Once settled, visit the AE Expeditions hospitality desk to collect your exclusive luggage cabin tags and meet our knowledgeable ground operations team. They are ready to assist with pre-embarkation details and provide valuable local insights, from dining recommendations to nearby services and last-minute shopping options. Spend the rest of your day exploring Oslo at your own pace, soaking in the city's charm and splendour.

Day 2: Fly to Longyearbyen and Embarkation

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before the AE Expeditions team arranges your transfer to the airport for a private charter flight to Longyearbyen. Upon arrival, enjoy an exclusive guided tour of the town, gaining insight into its unique history and culture. In the late afternoon, board the ship and settle into your luxurious cabin. Later, attend the mandatory safety briefings.

(Please note: The guided excursion depends on the charter flight's arrival time in Longyearbyen.)

Days 3–5: Svalbard

Get ready to be captivated by Svalbard's pristine Arctic wilderness. Led by our seasoned Expedition Team, we'll craft a flexible itinerary based on the weather, sea-ice conditions, and wildlife opportunities. Traverse stunning fjords, marvel at majestic mountains, and explore a polar desert dotted with ancient fossils.

Observe walruses lounging on sea ice or beaches, admire cliffs teeming with nesting guillemots and puffins, and discover scree slopes home to Svalbard’s largest little auk colonies. Enjoy kayaking in serene waters if you’ve chosen this exclusive activity, and anticipate an exhilarating polar plunge in the icy waters.

Day 6: At Sea

As we sail towards East Greenland, watch for majestic whales in the nutrient-rich waters. As we approach, expect to see sprawling pack ice, seals, and diverse seabirds, including northern fulmars and Brünnich’s guillemots.

Day 7: Jan Mayen

Our approach to Jan Mayen is breathtaking, dominated by the 2,277-metre Beerenberg volcano, the world’s northernmost active volcano. Weather permitting, we will attempt to land at Kvalrossbukta, a bay on the island’s west coast, which is a key supply point for the weather station Olonkinbyen on the east side.

Days 8-10: Ittoqqortoormiit & Scoresby Sund

Experience the wonders of East Greenland with the expert Expedition Team, tailoring the itinerary based on ice and weather conditions. Enjoy up to two landings or Zodiac excursions daily, exploring ice cliffs and observing majestic whales. Navigate deep fjords and narrow channels framed by towering ice-clad peaks, marvelling at massive icebergs and colourful tundra habitats.

Learn about the region's rich history by visiting ancient Thule sites, historical trappers’ huts, and modern Inuit hunters’ cabins. Highlighting the journey is a visit to Ittoqqortoormiit, East Greenland’s northernmost settlement. Engage with locals, visit the museum, and explore the village.

Day 11: Solar Eclipse

Today, sail to the prime viewing position within the totality path of the solar eclipse. Enjoy lunch onboard while the crew navigates to the optimal location. As the moon begins to eclipse the sun, experience a delicate twilight and prepare for the awe-inspiring 2 minutes and 18 seconds of totality. Witness the stunning diamond ring effect as the sun’s rays re-emerge.

Celebrate this unforgettable event with a special dinner, sharing the excitement and camaraderie with fellow travellers.

Days 12-13: East Greenland

Continue exploring Greenland’s fjord systems, with opportunities to spot musk oxen, arctic foxes, mountain hares, and reindeer near the fjords. Overhead, watch for glaucous gulls, kittiwakes, northern fulmars, and common eiders. Hiking enthusiasts can enjoy landscapes with blooming tundra plants, ancient whale bones, and musk oxen remnants. Discover mineral formations at fumaroles and marvel at the region’s colourful sedimentary rock formations.

Day 14: Denmark Strait
