Chisa Busanga Camp
  • Boasting just four bird nest-like treehouses, Chisa Busanga Camp perches on a beautiful island overlooking a huge floodplain in one of Africa’s most unique wilderness areas – the Busanga Plains.

  • Experience the prolific wildlife with knowledgeable guides on an eco-conscious game drive in electric solar-powered vehicles.

  • A walking safari brings you closer to nature with the opportunity to focus on the plants, insects, and birds; or approach big game on foot.

  • Leap in to the plunge pool to cool off during the heat of the day.

Due to open at the beginning of June 2020, the can will open seasonally between June and November. This intimate camp lies at the heart of the Busanga Plains, surrounded by the dambos and flood plains that are home to prolific birdlife, predators and elephants. With just four treehouses and a central boma, it is a small and intimate camp where the game drives take place in electric vehicles, which will use top of the range safari conversions and will rely on solar power to creating a more tranquil and eco-conscious experience.

The four treehouses of the camp have been raised up into the tree tops to blend into the surroundings and have been designed with the inspiration from the weaver nests found in the area to create the unique and remarkable architecture. Set on stilts, they look out over the grasslands, flood plains and their birdlife, including wattled crane and waders and feature an observation deck from which to observe the wildlife. A private bathroom boasts both indoor and outdoor showers. A central boma is a sociable hub for the camp, with views over the plains to enjoy and a plunge pool to cool down in after a morning’s game drive.

While the Busanga Plains are flooded for much of the year, the dry season sees a rich variety of wildlife return to the area, including black-maned lion, impala, wildebeest and wild dog. Knowledgeable guides lead the game drives and walking safaris, the former taking place in electric, solar-powered vehicles. Walking safaris bring you closer to the smaller residents; the plants, insects and more than 500 species of bird, including kingfishers, storks, egrets and herons.

This small, welcoming camp offers a chance to experience the wildlife-rich lands of the Busanga Plains in the Kafue National Park, while enjoying the rustically stylish surrounds of the camp and the striking views from the elevated bird nest accommodation.
