Average time to visit

Zambia has a moderate to sub-tropical climate with three distinct seasons: from November to March is the Emerald, or the rainy season, April to July is Zambia's winter, when the weather is cool and dry, and August to October is summer, when the weather is hot and dry. In terms of game-viewing, the drier months, meaning a higher concentration of game at the permanent water sources, are a superb time to visit. Alternatively come for some superb bird-watching at the end of the rains.

Itinerary

Fly to Livingstone
Day 1-4

Livingstone, Zambia

Flying overnight into Livingstone, the gateway to Victoria Falls, you’ll be met by your driver and whisked away to Tongabezi Lodge, a privately-owned hideaway on the banks of the Zambezi River. This stunningly stylish retreat presents some beautiful viewpoints of the Zambezi, where you can while away your time plunging into tranquillity in your private pool and indulging in mouth-watering cuisine; sinking your toes into the private sandbank along the river for an exclusive lunch is a dining experience to remember.
Start your Zambian sojourn with something special this evening and cruise down the Zambezi River with a glass of wine in hand and delicious snacks, watching herds of elephants drinking at the river’s edge, backed by towering palm trees silhouetted in the glow of the setting sun. During your three days here you’ll have the chance to meander through the forests and trails of Victoria Falls and walk along the gorge below it and experience the splendour of this natural wonder from below. Game drive through the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and marvel at herds of majestic elephants.

Accommodation: Tongabezi ( 3 nights )
Day 4-8

Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia

This afternoon as the sun starts to cool, venture out into the wild on a game drive to enjoy scenic sundowners before spotting the nocturnal species that come out as night begins to fall, perhaps spotting a honey badger or a porcupine.
Spend your days here enjoying immersive safari activities, with doses of indulgence in between. There is more to a safari than game drives, with canoe safaris, boat cruises and thrilling walking safari’s on offer, all of which will give you a totally unique perspective of the wildlife. Back at camp, enjoy a whisky around a crackling campfire, listening to the sounds of lions roaring in the distance.
