Hinlopen Strait
Head south through the wild seas of the Hinlopen Strait, home to a myriad of nesting seabirds, before cruising past the ice floes of Lomfjordshalvøya, and making a shore landing on Nordaustlandet in search of wildlife.
Turning away from the icy reaches of the High Arctic, your ship will steer you south through the Hinlopen Strait, whose vast cliffs are home to thousands of seabirds, from Brunnich’s guillemots, to kittiwakes and black guillemots. The vast volume of water that rushes through the straits poses a challenge for the Zodiacs, but the expert captains can get you close to the cliffs for prime viewing position. Cruise past the stunning ice floes of Lomfjordshalvøya before coming ashore to explore the tundra of Nordaustlandet, looking out for reindeer, pink-footed geese, and walruses.
