Perched overlooking Hobart's bustling Harbour in the heart of Tasmania's capital, MACq 01 is a welcome addition to Hobart's ever changing waterfront. The hotel has been designed to reflect Tasmania's varied history and culture and all aspects of the hotel from the decor to the service are inspired by days gone by.

Each room is named after specific characters from history and interactive displays within the rooms enlighten guests into the individual past of their rooms namesake - a welcome touch that really does bring history to life. Whilst history may have been the inspiring factor behind the design of this hotel its certainly not without modern touches. Each room either has views over the harbour or alternatively quiet Hunter Street with spacious balconies available in the superior room categories and above. Inside each room, guests will find all the mod-cons expected of a 5* hotel from the extensive minibars to wireless speakers and in-room tablets for guest use.

The spacious dining and bar space showcases the superb view across the harbour from floor to ceiling windows whilst an oversized fire pit reflects golden hues and enhances a warm sense of place.  The Old Wharf Restaurant which is led by Saffire Freycinet's former Head Chef Simon Pockran showcases the best of Tasmania's local produce from local oysters to crayfish as well as artisanal produce crafted on Tasmania soil.
