Qinghai

High in the north-eastern corner of the Tibetan plateau lies Qinghai, an adventurer’s paradise. Qinghai is awash with spectacular scenery, from its swathes of high altitude grassland and desert sands, to snow-capped mountain peaks and alpine lakes. Discover ancient Tibetan monasteries, thundering rivers and herds of yaks being tended to by their nomadic shepherds as you explore this vast province.

Qinghai

Qinghai is blessed with ethereal natural beauty. Much like neighbouring Tibet, the landscapes are as extreme as they are stunning. Boasting China’s largest lake, Lake Qinghai, the province is home to a fascinating blend of ethnic minorities, giving it a vibrant and varied culture. The capital city of Xining was once an important stop on the Silk Road and is home to the Ta'er Monastery and Dongguan Great Mosque. In Guide, discover the Qing dynasty walls and the famous gold-plated prayer wheel.  On the sloping banks of the Gu-chu river is Tongren, littered with monasteries and famous for the sacred Buddhist thanka scrolls.
